Next Chapter
Every new year gives us the chance to start a new chapter. And this is how I'm starting mine. I've been wanting to launch a blog for the last five years and I've finally gathered the courage to do so! If there's one thing I learned in this first week of 2017, it's to just go for it. Life is way too short to wonder about what could be, what could have been and what ifs. Understand that you are in charge of your own story. No one else will write it for you, no one else is responsible for your happiness. I don't mean to get preachy on my first blog post, but I'm feeling motivated and inspired!
As for most, 2016 was a year of growth. For me, it was very challenging, draining, and overall negative. But I'm choosing to take all that has happened and turn it into a product of love, peace, and kindness. That's where this blog kicks in!
As my journey progresses, I hope to bring a positive light to anyone who comes across my little corner of the internet. Welcome to Nini New York!
Now finally (most likely the reason you clicked on this post) here is my outfit of the day:
There are two things I focus on when piecing an outfit together: confidence and comfort. Do I feel good in my outfit? Am I actually able to move around in it? Double check? I'm out the door!
I'll be honest, it was a little too cold to be wearing this today. I'll be even more honest, I didn't look up the weather before I left my house. Whoops. My bad.
But let's get into the details!
This fedora is my favorite out of the ones I own. The print is definitely an eye catcher and the hat can be paired with a lot of different looks! Who doesn't love a versatile piece?
I bought this one from a pop up shop at the Chelsea Market. Unfortunately, it is no longer available.
These shoes are one of my recent finds and the second I saw them, I fell in LOVE. Adding a pop of color or print is always acceptable and can really elevate your look.
This pair is from Circus by Sam Edelman. Sadly this bootie is no longer available on the website, however, I found them here.
I am guilty of wearing this Aritzia (Wilfred) coat too often - it's definitely worth the investment! Made from 100% extra fine merino wool, it keeps me warm and saves me from those days when I don't check the weather. Like today. Which is a terrible habit. Don't be like me, be prepared!
To help tie this look together, I chose a dark denim wash for my jeans. Dark denim tends to look good with almost ANY top you wear. I could be a little biased though - it's my personal favorite. This particular pair is from Rag & Bone. Finding a good pair of jeans that truly does your figure justice is quite hard. I highly recommend you try on jeans from all kinds of brands (from high end to more affordable) and see what works for you. Once you find that golden pair, stock up!
And finally, another piece I get to thank for helping me prevent a cold, is this grey turtleneck from Banana Republic (exact sweater no longer available). These turtlenecks can be worn with so many different pieces (jeans, slacks, skirts, you name it), and manages to keep you looking classy and chic. If you don't own one, I HIGHLY recommend it! Don't like turtlenecks? Perhaps you can try a mock neck sweater instead! They tend to be equally flattering and versatile.
I truly hope you enjoyed my very first blog post and hope you pop by again soon! Feel free to reach out or visit me on my Instagram: @nini.nyc.
But before you move along with your day, I'll leave you with this quote:
