Piecing it Together

When it's this sunny in New York during the winter, you have to take advantage of it. I for one, am very grateful for these past few days. But of course, that won't last (either rain or snow will once again prevail).

Over the summer culottes were extremely popular. Yet for some unknown reason, I never snagged a pair (because that's Nini logic for ya). Thanks to Zara having a crazy sale (sorrynotsorry), I own these great denim culottes - and they have possibly become one of my favorite pieces in my entire wardrobe. Don't worry fedora, no one will ever replace you. You will always be my number one.

In this look, every item is simple yet unique in texture as well as design. Since the base of the outfit is neutral (shirt and jeans), I can play around with the accessories. In this post I'll show you two: a fedora or a silk scarf.

My silk scarf, is from the HMxKenzo collection that released last Fall. The scarf is 100% silk and was quite affordable.  What I love about silk scarves is the touch of elegance it can give to your outfit or to another accessory (like a handbag). Some scarves tell a story with their print, and that makes them all the more unique and interesting. Hermes is a brand that knows how to do this with their scarves very well. But I can't afford them so ... a girl can dream. Right?

Don't like scarves? Try a hat!

When an outfit feels incomplete, I almost always reach for my fedoras. There's something special about them that just elevates a look and gives it that satisfying feeling of "okay now I'm ready". For this look, I went for my plain black one that I purchased at Forever 21 AGES ago.

To me, these jeans are the star of the outfit. I love the wash, the fit, and especially the fact that these were made from recycled jeans! I can also pair this denim number with a variety of tops, and if you have learned anything about me so far, it's that I love a versatile piece!

The boots were a steal from Steve Madden (yes, I love sales). You'll be seeing these babies in a LOT of other outfits.

If you made it this far into the post, thank you so much. I hope you enjoyed this outfit of the day and come back for more projects that will launch soon!

But, before you go, I'd like to leave you with this quote:

With Love,

Nini
